Acceptable Use Policy

What responsible, healthy use of the Platform looks like.

Acceptable Use Policy

Last Updated: April 21, 2026
Effective Date: April 21, 2026

1. Purpose

This Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP") defines responsible use of Spirit Of Shabbat ("Platform"), operated by Stephen Wise Temple, a California non-profit corporation. This AUP is part of our . Violations may result in enforcement action up to and including permanent ban and legal referral.

2. The Standard: Healthy Use

The Platform exists to facilitate Torah study and community connection. Healthy use means:

  • Lawful. Compliant with all applicable federal, state, and local laws, including California and Los Angeles County regulations.
  • Good Faith. Honest, respectful of others' rights, and consistent with the Platform's purpose.
  • Constructive. Contributing to community learning and connection rather than detracting from it.

Everything that follows is the residual — what deviates from healthy use.

3. Prohibited Conduct

You may not use the Platform in any way that deviates from lawful, good-faith, constructive use. Without limiting that general standard, the following are specifically prohibited:

3.1 Harm to People

Any conduct that threatens, intimidates, harasses, stalks, abuses, exploits, or endangers any person. This includes — regardless of the specific form it takes — violence and threats, bullying, sexual harassment, unwanted persistent contact, encouraging self-harm, doxxing, and any exploitation of minors or vulnerable individuals.

3.2 Deception

Any conduct that misleads, defrauds, or manipulates. This includes impersonation, phishing, scams, deliberately false information, manipulated media presented as authentic, and misrepresentation of identity or affiliations.

3.3 Attacks on the Platform

Any attempt to compromise Platform systems, security, or availability. This includes unauthorized access, vulnerability exploitation, malware distribution, data harvesting, scraping, circumventing security measures, and interfering with infrastructure.

3.4 Intellectual Property Violation

Using the Platform to infringe copyrights, trademarks, or other intellectual property rights. See our for reporting and procedures.

3.5 Manipulation and Spam

Artificially inflating engagement, coordinated inauthentic behavior, unauthorized automation, bulk unsolicited messaging, or any conduct designed to game Platform systems.

3.6 Privacy Violation

Collecting, exposing, or sharing others' personal information, private communications, or location without consent.

3.7 Unauthorized Commercial Use

Commercial activities, advertising, solicitation, fundraising, or recruitment not authorized by the Organization.

4. Content

All content must be relevant to the Platform's purpose, respect the rights and dignity of others, comply with intellectual property laws, and be accurately described. Prohibited content types are detailed in our .

5. Account Responsibilities

  • Maintain the confidentiality and security of your credentials.
  • Do not create accounts with false information, maintain multiple accounts, or share, sell, or transfer account access.
  • You are responsible for the conduct of individuals you invite to the Platform.

6. Fair Use of Resources

Do not consume excessive bandwidth, storage, or system resources. Do not use bots, scripts, or automated tools without written authorization.

7. Reporting Violations

  1. In-App: Use built-in reporting features.
  2. Email: [email protected] with description, username(s), date/time, and evidence.
  3. Emergency: For imminent threats, contact local authorities first, then [email protected].

Report in good faith. False or malicious reporting is itself a violation.

8. Enforcement

We investigate suspected violations and may take action including warnings, content removal, feature restriction, temporary suspension, permanent ban, legal action, or law enforcement referral. We consider severity, intent, history, harm caused, and cooperation when determining appropriate response.

You may appeal enforcement actions by submitting a written appeal to [email protected]. Appeals are reviewed within 7 business days. Some severe violations are not subject to appeal.

9. Cooperation with Authorities

We comply with valid legal process, report child exploitation material to NCMEC and law enforcement, and report credible threats of violence and other illegal activity as required by law.

10. Changes

We may update this AUP. Material changes will be communicated through the Platform. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
